Frequently Asked Questions

  • We sure are!

The easiest way for you to get started is to check out our Pricing & Packages page to see what package would work best for your dog and then request an appointment by clicking HERE.

  • You definitely need an appointment.

We are a very busy salon and while we do try our best to accommodate everyone as quickly as we can, there are only so many dogs we can work on in a day.

We recommend pre-booking your next appointment when you pick your dog up so that you have your next appointment scheduled on a day and time that works for you, and you don’t have to worry about remembering to do it later.

You can request an appointment online HERE.

  • We currently accept Cash or Etransfers sent to:

  • We currently do NOT groom cats. However, we are happy to accommodate nail trims for friendly, vaccinated kitties!

  • All dogs over the age of 5 months are required to be fully vaccinated for Rabies.

We strongly recommend that your dog also be vaccinated for DHPP (Distemper, Adenovirus, Parvovirus, and Parainfluenza) and Bordetella as well.

Puppies under the age of 5 months may come in for their puppy package prior to having their Rabies vaccine BUT must have their second set of DHPP vaccines first.

  • As long as you reschedule at least 24 hours before your appointment time it’s no problem at all.

If you reschedule less than 24 hours before your appointment time you may be charged a missed appointment fee.

We hate to have to charge people for things like this, but when you book an appointment in our grooming calendar, that spot is no longer available for someone else to book. That means if you cancel at the last minute we likely won’t have time to fill that spot and it results in lost revenue and wages which ultimately has an effect on our families.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support with this.

We’re happy to help you reschedule your appointment, but please be aware that we typically book 6-8 weeks in advance and although we will always try, we cannot guarantee an immediate opening in our grooming calendar.

  • This all depends on the size of your dog, the condition of their coat, what package they’re getting and sometimes their behaviour.

Each appointment typically takes 2-3 hours form start to finish, unless your groomer has specified otherwise.

Your groomer will give you a time estimate based on your dogs requirements when you drop your dog off, and they will contact you as they’re finishing up so that you’ll be ready to pick your dog up when they’re all clean and ready to go!

  • No.

There are several reasons for this, the main one being safety.

We work with sharp objects and moving animals.

When your dog sees you they get excited and although we love seeing that, we really need them to stay still so we can groom them safely without injury to them or ourselves.

If you have any hesitations before leaving your dog with us, please feel free to discuss them with your groomer at drop off or give us as call before your appointment so we can chat about your concerns 1 (705) 322-9583

  • For safety reasons we do currently crate dogs while they are waiting for their owners or if they need a break during their groom.

We often have several dogs in the salon at one time and this helps to make sure everyone is getting along, and staying safe and secure inside our shop.

We do from time to time allow loose dogs in the salon, but this is highly dependent on the group of dogs we have on that day.

If you have any hesitations about your dog being crated please feel free to discuss them with your groomer when you drop your dog off or give us a call before your appointment to chat about your concerns 1 (705) 322-9583.

  • We always try to use protective equipment and tools sparingly but from time to time we do have to use various techniques and tools to help keep everyone safe.

Sometimes all it takes is another groomer or assistant to cuddle and help reassure the dog, other times we can get away with just using bite gloves or an e-collar/cone before jumping straight to a muzzle. It all depends on the dog, the behaviour and the scenario.

We have had several experiences with dogs who had to be muzzled on their first visit and are now super star grooming clients with no issues!

It all depends on the dog. They’re all different and we do our best to figure out what each one needs to make grooming easy on them.

  • As soon as your puppy is vaccinated they can come for their puppy package!

Puppies under the age of 5 months may come in for their puppy package prior to having their Rabies vaccine BUT must have their second set of DHPP vaccines first.

We suggest at least one puppy package before a full groom for your pup!

  • This will depend entirely on your dogs breed, coat type as well as your lifestyle and commitment to their grooming regiment at home.

For dogs that shed a lot we recommend every 6-8 weeks. This helps to loosen up the undercoat and we can then blow it all out with our powerful high velocity blow dryer. If your dog also has feathers we can keep them trimmed to prevent tangles and mats.

For dogs that require full haircuts, depending on the length of their coat we recommend 6-8 weeks. This is a great maintenance schedule that works well for the majority of our clients and tends to prevent severe tangles and matting.

For Doodles we typically recommend every 4-6 weeks. This is because they have very high maintenance hair and although most owners love the fluffy, floppy look, its nearly impossible to maintain it without tangles and matting. With regular grooms we can keep on top of it, keep your dog happy and hopefully achieve the look you like.

Nails should be trimmed every 4 weeks or more frequently if needed.

Your groomer can recommend a maintenance schedule to help you keep your dog feeling and looking their best!

  • If your dog has a smaller amount of matting or the matting is concentrated to one area, we may have a couple of options before having to shave them completely…

First, depending on the location of the matting and the severity we may be able to brush some of it or all of it out. This will all come down to how safe we feel attempting this, and also whether we feel your dog will be in any kind of discomfort while attempting it. We’ll never put a dog through something painful in the name of a haircut.

Second, again depending on the location of the matting and the severity we may be able to spot shave some of the matting out and then attempt to blend those spots with the rest of the coat. This doesn’t always look the nicest, but is often a comfortable solution for the dog.

The best way to avoid shaving a matted dog is to avoid a matted coat. Get your dog on a regular grooming schedule and in between grooms make sure you’re brushing and combing regularly to avoid tangles and mats.

If you’re unsure about what tools to use at home, your groomer can help you choose the correct ones for your dogs coat.
